PGL have been on board for a few years now. The event is in keeping with our own core values and offers opportunities for students of all levels and abilities to enjoy time on the water developing, enhancing and displaying their paddling skills in a fun, supportive and relaxed environment. The Rodeo may start with several individual teams; however they all come together as one big paddling community.

A word from them...

The River Legacy organizes and contributes to events for paddlers in collaboration with groups and communities, where kayakers and canoeists can meet and exchange ideas, yarns and experiences and enjoy the spirit of paddle sport. Where profit is made at these events, the River Legacy puts this straight back into our sport, either through donations to improve accessibility of rivers, or towards improving the quality of next event that we run - preferably both. This includes buying an area of land to use as a shuttle car park, building steps down to the water to reduce soil erosion caused by paddlers clambering down the bank, or just buying additional land next to existing access to increase the area that people can use to get to the water.
There is no one-stop-shop solution to improving facilities, opportunities and access for paddlers, and a multi-pronged approach is more likely to have an effect. In the long run we hope the paddling situation in this country is improved considerably, so that all river users and landowners can benefit from what is a valuable natural resource. In the mean time, we hope that the events we run and the contributions we make will go a long way towards this goal, and we hope that you will support and join us in this endeavor.
Everyone involved in River Legacy is a volunteer and we are always looking for help at events and support for our activities. More information available at www.river-legacy.org.uk or by joining our facebook group.

If you enjoyed this party the next events include the Polzeath Student Surf Festival and Teifi Tour in Autumn 2009. Both were a great success in 2008 and perfect club trips catering for all abilities. Make sure they are on your Uni Kayak Club Calendar!
