FAQs
Q: "I'm still in skool, but i wanna compete, can I cum to the rodeo?"
A: "Once you have learnt basic grammar, and attended an institute of Higher Education you too will be eligible to enter NSR. The NSR is open to Higher Education Students only (i.e. University Students - over 18s). The open category, which is open to all, will still be running. However this year it will be taking on a more informal, expression session format. Watch this space."
Q: "I am crap at paddling, can I compete anyway?"
A: "Of course you can!! There are novice, intermediate and expert categories, designed to allow newbies to compete against each other and win cool prizes. However for safety reason all paddlers must be of BCU 3* standard and comply to HPP Course Code of Practice. It is up the each University to ensure that their entrants are of adequate ability."
Q: "Am I going to be sick from the water at HPP?"
Q: "Aaah! You have a woman's belly, my lord! I wager it never felt the lash of a cat, been rubbed with salt, and then flayed off by a pirate chief, to make fine stockings for his best cabin boy. You will probably feel very sick after the weekend, but that will have more to do with the alcohol you consume rather than the water. If you swim, close your mouth"
Q: "What if the Course at HPP is flooded that weekend?"
This year’s rodeo is taking on more of a festival feel, and loads of what we’ve got going on doesn’t rely on the course running. As well as all of the coaching clinics and some informal jam sessions which will happen at revised locations, we’ve organised a shed load of alternative kayaking and non kayaking competitions, so all of the prizes will still be up for grabs. In short, come along regardless, the party will be rockin’, the free stuff will be here in abundance, and it’ll still be the biggest student based kayaking weekend of the year.
Q: "I have to register on t'internet right? What if I haven't got a username and password for my university?"
If you still don't have a username or password please contact us here to request an account.
Q: "Who do I make cheques payable to?"
Cheques should be made payable to LUU. Firstly, complete online registration adding all the competitors you would like to bring. You can add or delete paddlers up until the closing deadline. Once you've finalised your entries click on the money tab. The address for the rodeo treasurer is here, together with your final total.
Q: "I've missed the deadline but there's just one of me and I just want to come to the party anyway. Can I still buy a ticket?"
We had to close entries on 7th February for licensing reasons as well as time constraints. We're working on a bigger and better events license for next year but for the time being we can't accept further entries for NSR '08. However, you're more than welcome to come along and spectate.
Q: "Can I just wing it?"
Probably not.
